About Kansas City Country Club
Kansas City Country Club was founded on May 1, 1896, which makes it one of the oldest country clubs west of the Mississippi. Its first home was the ground that is now Loose Park on the Missouri side; in 1926 the club moved across State Line to Mission Hills, and A.W. Tillinghast designed the course that opened there in 1927. Tillinghast is the architect behind Winged Foot and Bethpage Black, and his elevated greens and strategic bunkering are still the character of this par-71 layout.
