Shadow Glen Golf Club

Shadow Glen was organized in 1987 as a not-for-profit, member-owned equity club and the course opened in 1989. Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed it with Tom Watson contributing, and Golf Digest named it the Best New Private Course in America in 1990 and later put it on its list of the 100 greatest courses in the mid-1990s. The club sits at 26000 Shadow Glen Drive on the west side of Olathe, off K-10, and is the centerpiece of Cedar Creek, a large master-planned community built around a lake and the rolling ground along Cedar Creek. It is golf-first: the club describes itself as a golf club, not a country club, and it means it.

The members are serious golfers from all over the metro, not just Olathe. Because the course has always been ranked as the top private layout in the area, people join Shadow Glen for the golf even when they live in Leawood or Overland Park and belong to a second club closer to home for the pool and social calendar. Cedar Creek residents have the shortest drive and the club offers separate golf and social memberships, which lets a household in the neighborhood use the clubhouse and events without carrying full golf dues.
